Basic information on the Whistleblower Protection Act:
The Whistleblower Protection Act serves to protect people who have obtained information about violations in the course of their professional activities and pass this on to the relevant internal and/or external reporting offices.
In this context, the following central components of the Whistleblower Protection Act apply in the current Brandenburg reporting procedure:

What can be reported?
Reports that fall under the regulated scope of protection of the law are described in detail in Section 2 of the Whistleblower Protection Act. This includes in particular violations of criminal provisions, administrative offenses (violations that are subject to a fine; insofar as they concern the protection of life, limb or health or the protection of the rights of employees or their representative bodies), violations of federal and state laws and violations of directly applicable EU legal acts in a variety of different areas.Confidentiality requirement (Section 8 of the Whistleblower Protection Act)
How is the protection of identity ensured?
The internal reporting channels are designed in such a way that the identity of the person providing the information and the persons who are the subject of a report is protected. The identity of the persons is only known to the persons appointed as the reporting office.Data protection (Section 10 HinSchG)
How is personal data handled?
Personal data is stored and processed exclusively by the internal reporting office officers as part of the performance of their duties in accordance with HinSchG. Further details on data protection can be found in our data protection guidelines.
